Pollen Sucks

I have been miserable this weekend. The pollen finally took its toll on me. All Friday evening I kept feeling like I had gunk building up in my throat. I took my Aspie for a walk around this trail near my home and certainly we passed a ton more pollen and tree debris but I tried to tolerate it. By Saturday morning 5am I woke up with the worst sort throat. It felt like Strep but I think it was just post-nasal drip. I gargled with salt water and took Benadryl but it still continues. Now it feels more like a cold than anything else with an intermittent sore throat and lots of sneezing. I did not let that stop me from taking a walk tonight with my little guy. We walked 2 miles around our neighborhood. But now I am sneezing and coughing even more ... sigh. Time for some Benadryl.

I guess pollen doesn't really suck ... since it pollenates and creates all the lovely blooms but it sure aggravate my respiratory system.

On a more positive note though, I've been using #RunKeeper to track my walks but I use NikeRunning to track my runs. I am still undecided as to what I like best so for now I will keep using both or until the Nike sensor dies again. They cost $20 to replace.

Time to cuddle with my son so have a good week!!

Working Out

I haven't been doing much lately, just working out. Here is a summary of my recent exercise. Yesterday I ran 2.40 miles and cycled on the stationary bike for 30 minutes. That translates to 6 miles + pedaled. I probably won't document every rep in detail but if you want to check out my runs and other exercise stuff, I have been using Nike's site for my runs and RunKeeper to document walking and other cardio. I prefer Nike for my running though, not sure right now if I will switch to RunKeeper permanently. The iPhone battery drains faster on days of heavy use so I am sticking to my Nike shoe sensor and iPod for now. I am slowly working my way to being able to run 4 miles at one time then 5 miles. Hopefully I will be able to lose 20 lbs by the time I can run 5 miles and perhaps another 15 lbs when I can finally get beyond the 5 mile mark.
